Två veteraner leder Rättvik till seger i  Svenska Cupens kvartsfinal mot Stockholm.

 

Jonas "Jocke" Andersson led the team with 4 hits.

Magnus Höglund pitched an amazing comeback game.
Only 9 Rättvik players made the trip to Stockholm for the quarter final of the Swedish Cup. Veteran Butchers: Jonas Andersson, Magnus Höglund and Fredik Hansson made the trip with the two foreign players: American Eunique Johnsson and Canadian Philippe Longchamps. Four of the most promising talents of the club: Peter Jansson, Kristoffer Sjöberg, Adam Villamo and Emil Hansson, completed the squad for that important match against the only undefeted Elite team in 2008.

The Butchers sent a clear warning to their opponents in the first inning. Hitting 5 hits (including 4 extra-base hits) at their 6 first presence at bat. Fiket Hansson, Eunique Johnson, Jonas Andersson and Philippe Longchamps hit doubles while Peter Jansson hit a single and Kristoffer Sjöberg produced  a run with a sacrifice fly. Rättvik took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and continued to hit well and run the bases agressively  to take a 13-2 lead in the 5th inning.

 Philippe Longchamps' comment: "We won this game because we had a great  team spirit and faith in each other. Despite the absence of some of our most talented players (injured or unable to make the trip) we all played well.

Magnus Höglund pitched well and Eunique Johnson got the save despite a good effort from Stockholm to make a comeback. The 3 outfielders Emil Hansson, Adam Villamo and Philippe Longchamps have been very busy througout the game with more than 10 putouts combined and the Butchers team spirit was better than ever. PG Sjöberg's presence as the third base coach also had a positive impact on the club. His leadership and his positivism gave the club a virtual 10th player on the field. PG Sjöberg has faith in his club and the players are always performing well when he's around. Besides Magnus Höglund impressive performance the obscure hero of the game has been Jonas "Jocke" Andersson. His contribution the the club success since he joined Rättvik, after many seasons with Gefle, is priceless. Jocke got 4 hits in his 4 first presence at bat (including 2 doubles) and played another excellent game at first base.
